Why is Speed Dating so popular?
Speed Dating events are advertised as a chance to meet a large number of other singles in your area and allows you to pick who you are interested in spending more time with. How does Speed Dating really work?
Imagine a room with 20 or 30 tables. At each table is somebody that you have never met – someone single in your age range that also wants to meet more people.
After you register before the event, you are given a number to wear and paper to record your results. With the excitement of a brand new adventure, you sit down at table 1, introduce yourself, ask questions, and spend 5 minutes gathering information to help you decide whether you are interested in spending more time with
this person, or not.
After 5 minutes, the bell rings, and you say goodbye to table #1 and hello to table #2. You introduce yourself, and you will quickly find out whether this person is a good match for you. RULE OF THUMB – if the 5 minutes goes by slowly, it is not a good match, but if the 5 minutes goes by too fast – it’s a good match.
After you get to table 20 or 30, you realize that you have met and talked to more singles in the past couple of hours than you have in the past 6 month or year! Your paperwork is filled with notes from all the people you have met, and it is now time to turn in your selection sheet of all the people you have met and would be interested in seeing again.
This is the most important part of the evening, so make sure you print clearly and use a working email address.
After the speed dating elves sort through all the paperwork, the matches – in with both people pick each other- are then emailed to both people so
they can exchange info and set up a future date or meeting.
